FIRST & OAK, at the Mirabelle Inn is situated in Solvang's exceptional wine country region otherwise known as the Santa Ynez Valley. The Mirabelle Inn restaurant was established in 1993. The restaurant and boutique hotel were purchased in July of 2015 by Bernard and Jonathan Rosenson, a father and son duo who specialize in hospitality and currently own the Coquelicot Estate Vineyard also located in Solvang. The vision for the restaurant is to create a truly localized restaurant that specializes in produce and products from the Santa Barbara county.
COQUELICOT (ko-klee-ko) is the name "en Français" of the striking red poppy flower that graces the French countryside, as well as all the labels on our wines. Our 58 acre vineyard is an organically farmed property in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Sustainable farming and gentle, meticulous winemaking techniques converge to produce hand made, limited production wines that are a true celebration of life.
My penchant for learning is infinite and everlasting. This drove me to complete a doctorate in management at the Weatherhead School, Case Western University in Cleveland - a fine school with a professional team of engaged scholars working at the cusp of the latest research methods. I cannot say enough good things about this excellent school.My research interests centered around the importance of caregivers and a quality of life in long term care and a need to maintain a steady, and caring staff. I also dabbled with other interests: Organic wine making and the need to produce a flourishing "clean" product; the litigation process which crushes the innovative concept of assisted living in a more bound legal system lacking intended justice.
